French Brittany around eastern Iowa
Wife and I are tossing around the Idea of getting a French Brittany. Anyone know of any litters planned for spring around eastern Iowa?
Re: French Brittany around eastern Iowa
Randy is a friend, and owns Corn Country Bretons, near Wilton. I don't know if he has a Spring litter planned, but he might, and I'm sure he'd help you find other breeders in our area.

There is a UKC Epagneul Breton field trial March 8th and 9th in Coon Rapids IA (eastern Iowa) and I know there will be some TOP Epagneul Breton breeders there. Good place to meet some folks and see quite a few different dogs and see them work.
Contact Royce Stangl 712 six eight three- 5752
Royce is in that area and has some good looking dogs as well. I am planning on being there this year as I was last, worth the trip.

Oh and Randy was there last year and ran some of his dogs.
Re: French Brittany around eastern Iowa
Great suggestion from Cory on checking out the IA trial.
I’d recommend Mark Dinsmore /L’Etoile du Nord Kennels in Sykeston ND. Great guy, great dogs. Looks like he has a couple spring litters planned, one of which is his dog Vern. On here his name is ohmymy111. Website below. Probably a good chance he'd be at the Iowa trial unless he has pups on the ground.

Hello twofeathers,
Good luck finding a French Brittany - unclaimed litter for this spring of "proper breeding".
That being said, in my search It seems EB breeders mostly take pre-orders then breed their dogs. As an example, I sent in my deposit in March of 2013 to get on the list for a French Brittany pup due this spring 2014. That's just the way it is. In 2012 I did what you are doing... Trying to find a pup. None available then.
Bite the bullet, look at the breeding, don't just take any puppy. Also, once you get over what they want for one of these bird dog's expect a $200.00 deposit requirement toward the total cost for a pup in 2014.
There are several excellent breeders and a few questionable ones I've found on the web. I chose and highly recommend investigating and contacting -Sur le Delavan Kennel (Delavan, Illinois) Clint and Susanne LaFary : http://www.surledelavan.com/ to be placed on the puppy list for spring 2015. They are located approx. 130 miles s.e. of Davenport, Iowa. About a five hour drive from my home in MI.
Good luck!
Bill

Unfortunately, the Iowa trial has been cancelled for this spring. There is however, a UKC trial in Chandlerville, IL this weekend that has a nice entry of EBs.C.painter wrote:There is a UKC Epagneul Breton field trial March 8th and 9th in Coon Rapids IA (eastern Iowa) and I know there will be some TOP Epagneul Breton breeders there. Should be a good trial. Weather is improving which will help. This is going to be the location for the CEB-US Nationals next year. Suppose to be great grounds to run a trial, I am looking forward to it!!
Re: French Brittany around eastern Iowa
