Quail Unlimited or Forever?
Quail Unlimited or Forever?
Hey guys, just wondering if any of yall are members of either one or if anyone knows which one is (in thier opinion) the better. I dont think either one has a chapter around Central MS but i think quial forever has a chapter in north MS. I really want to join one but want my money to go to the best use. Thanks.

I believe you had better check on that, I am a donor and member of QF and PF and the chapters I am a member of 100% of the money raised thruogh our banquets stay within the chapter to be used as the chapter wishes we have been currently planting food plots and cover crops along with trees in our area, I would find it hard to believe that any other chapter would differ.
Has nothing to do with luck just boot leather and a fine GWP...
I believe it is in the charter that all monies stay with the chapter. I know thats the way it is here.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

With Quail Forever which was spun from Phesants forever, the money that the chapter raises stays within the chapter. You can be a pro-active as the chapter wants to be with raising money for habitat work and it will stay at home.
With Quail unlimited, a large % of the money that you raise goes back to Edgefield, South Carolina.
It seems that Phesants forever has been a very good organization, lets just hope that Quail Forever is just as good if not better, it is apparent that the Quail need some help.....

Quail Forever
I joined the new Quail Forever. A chapter has been established in Eustis, Nebraska. I think that Quail Unlimited organization is stronger in the southeast.
I also joined the new Quail Forever because I am impressed by Pheasants Forever work with habitat. Pheasants Forever has one of the best ratings for efficiency. I think that is important.
Pheasant Fest is coming up in Iowa. I don't know where you live, but this would be a good time to check out Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever. This is the web link:

I attended the 2005 Pheasant Fest in Omaha, Nebraska. It was the best event that I have ever attended.

Qu or Qf
I was a QU member for two years and wasnt to happy with it and am switching to QF.
" Everyone makes fun of a redneck till their car breaks down"Larry the Cable Guy
It was my understanding that QF was an offshoot of Q Unlimited because of the widespread disaffection with the way the money was handled. I also understood that QU is an offshoot of the highly touted Ducks Unlimited.
I am letting my DU membership slide and puttin all of my charitable wildlife donations into Quail Forever. I'm not mad at anybody, it's just that the Quail seem to be in desperate circumstances here of late.

PVA.org needs you to send them 3 bucks.

I was solicited to be a "Charter Member" of QU when it first started up. I sent in dough, but they kept thinking of reasons why I did not need to be a Charter Member unless I sent in a big bunch more. Having seen first hand some of the "conservation" organizations work where someone from "headquarters" comes to every local banquet, stuffs a briefcase full of cash, and leaves, I did not like it right away (the organization I was in was not QU, but QU just felt the same).
PF, its founders, and its staff are up here in Minneapolis. They have done a tremendous amount of good and the money stays with the chapters. Pick that.

My opinion is go with QF which is new and just getting established. I think their record is better.

I've been in QU for 8 years and chairman of my local chapter for 2 years. As chairman, I'll tell you that you get what you put in. If I want my state chairman or someone from national at our banquet, I invite them and they almost alway come. The responsibility is on the chapter/chairman.
Here is the dirty little secret that no one has mentioned: Of the local money raised, we put about 185% back to our project. Not a portion, not even all the money we raised, but more. We do this through grants. All of our money goes to national, it's matched, and come back in a grant check (almost doubled). How? See the first paragraph.
I have nothing against QF; I welcome everyone wanting to expand quail habitat and I think they are doing some things right. There is room for improvement with any conservation organization but I'm tired those who drag their feet and then whine when things don't go right.
Both are fine organizations so join both, $30 year for both, but consider joining at a higher level. It is beyond belief that anyone who hunts upland doesn't support these organizations.

I have to agree with Low Country. You get out what you put in. The local QU chapter is basically a field trial organization. That is there main focus. QF just started about a year ago and the members are really motivated and there has been a large projrct started and there is progress being made.
I think that if the organization has motivated people in it then the name of the organization doesn't matter.

Could you fill us in on QU and DU affiliation with Bank of America? Bank of America is donating GIGABUCKS to the HSUS. For those of you not informed, HSUS believes that NO ONE should own a pet. Chickens should not be raised, hunting should be totally banned.Lowcountry wrote:I've been in QU for 8 years and chairman of my local chapter for 2 years. Has this issue been raised within the DU / QU organizations?
