I was just an acquaintance of Vern but thought I'd add a few things. I used to run into him at field trials and a few hunt tests. He was a man of strong opinions and knowledge but he also asked lots of questions (aka he had informed opinions). He judged numerous field trials http://www.remekvizslas.net/judgeList.php4?id=723 and hunt tests (including a few I ran). He bred, owned and trained some of the nicest dogs I've seen.
