Chewing on siding

Just built my indoor/ outdoor kennel and am having an issue with one chewing on the vinyl siding. And suggestions ?

There are a number of bitter apple-type coatings which will work if re-applied consistently, admittedly depending on the dog. And of course, you should divert him with other more interesting things on which to chew. How old is he, and how much exercise is he getting?
