New pup

Post by Vidar » Mon Mar 24, 2025 3:27 pm

I just want to thank everyone on this forum. I did so much research before buying a new pup. I read so many posts on this forum. Everyone I talked to in person told me how bad English pointers were. I didn't listen to them. Instead I listened to all the posts on here about English pointers. I bought an amazing pup from steel city kennels. She has been the best dog I have ever had in the house. She is so good with my kids. I just wanted to thank you to everyone who has posted on this forum and given such valuable information about the many bird dog breeds.

Congrats on your new acquisition! I had probably listened to many of the same negative comments on EP's before trying my first one, and was pleasantly surprised as well. I'm on my fifth right now, with another pup scheduled to join him this summer. I've had a couple that were brag dogs, two that were average, and one that died too soon to tell. All have been easy keepers and good companions. The only traits I could ask for would be less shedding and maybe just a touch of protective instinct - mine seem to assume that anyone approaching their kennels is a potential opportunity for them to get taken hunting. The Weims and wire I had in the past were better at letting me know if something didn't seem right. Mine have been great with my kids and grandkids, and far from being the aloof, unaffectionate dogs I was told they'd be.

Good luck with your pup. Keep us posted on it's progress!

Isn't that great that it worked out so well! Beautiful picture. :)
