attn FIELD TRIALERS

Post by bruin » Thu Oct 11, 2007 10:36 am

I recently lost a dog, she had a ton of potentiol in the field trial world. I am now looking for a new pup. The pup I am looking for I want to be a gun dog, I do not have a horse but love to field trial, they do offer a few walking here and the surrounding states. Any suggetions on which dogs are dominating right now, if you were in my situation where would u look?

Thanks for your time, and suggestions.

I have no idea where you are at but I would first see what is being run in your area in the way fo field trials. Is it mostly American Field with pointers and setters, is it AKC trials that are open to all breeds or is their a strong brittany contigent holding brittany only trials. Decide where you want to play and choose the breed from there.
I know there are some great breeders on here with many great dogs to choose from. I personally run brittanys and love the breed.
Good luck in your search.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare.
And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

JC,

Are you looking for a 8 week old pup, or just a young dog to start with?

I know of a few young GSPs (born in Feb or so) that a trialer friend of mine has kept back to sort out. These will be solid gundog/shooting dog prospects and are getting run on a daily basis. The sire of the litter is a Shooting Dog National Champion and the dam was produced multiple FCs including one of the hottest shooting dogs on the circuit right now. This is linebred KJ's Hightailing Saddle stuff.

If you are interested, let me know and I'll get you more details.

Dave

You could sure help narrow this topic quite a bit if you'd specify one or two breeds. Otherwise it could get overwhelming in a hurry. CR
There's a reason I like dogs better'n people

JC/Bruin
Before you go looking all over the states take a look in your back yard.
I have told you this before and I honestly believe DP's Jake is one of the best dogs around. He has an outstanding nose and an uncanny ability to find birds. Give Art a yell and ask him about their sage grouse hunt. All his dogs got to do all day was honor Jake.
Give DP a call and see if he has anything in the works.

Here is a pic of Jake. If this is the same dog DirtySteve is talking about. I am sure it is. I really enjoyed watching Jake at the FT's finish both his FC and AFC.

I have seen a full brother to this pup from the previous breeding, and he is awesome.

I'd give Dan a call at Dunfur Kennels - good, good stuff!

I did see a coming 10mo. pup hammer some points on some sharpies tonight and hunt to the limits of the country doing it. Out of a little brown DP Utah product - find me a nice Beier's bitch JC and we'll get ya' one just like him! :D
