Happy Time Pics

Post by gar-dog » Sat Jan 05, 2008 1:33 pm

I took my girls (1 human, 1 canine) out today for a run and took some pics. I really wish Ginger would quit eating deer poop. All had a great time though.

gar-dog...deer poop, rabbit poop...must all taste good to them! My setter loves those bunny droppings!

GREAT picts, sure wish we did not have 2 ft of snow on the ground. How old are both your little ones?

FWIW I would not run that dog with the 12' command lead. I do not believe it was designed for a puppy to drag. You would be much better off with a flat leather or coated nylon collar and a tightly woven nylon check cord.

The 12 footer is billed as a check cord, rather than lead, which the 6 footer is referred to. The check cord I have right now that is 20 feet is just too heavy right now. I have only used it a couple of times on an impromptu field trip as such anyway.

Yes it is sold as that but is used for actually check cording dogs. Not to be used for happy timing.

Do as you wish but if your pup gets out of site and gets hung up it could mean disaster. If pup doesnt get out of site than I would rather see you not have any lead on rather than one that the pup may get hung up on.

gar-dog, 16' 1/4" tight weave nylon makes a dandy cc at that age. By 6 mos, the dog should be able to pull a 16' 3/8th cord. Command lead better than nothing tho.

Nice looking dog and nice looking cover. Best thing you can do for it now.

One word about eating poop: Flagyl. You'll be glad that you did.

Nothing worse than being out of town, staying in a hotel with a dog that has explosive, lower GI diarrhea. Been there, got the t-shirt, threw it in the hotel dumpster.

BTW, the generic name for Flagyl is Metronidazole.

Best, Greg J.

Great looking little girl you have!! As for the poop thing, there is always the upside of not having to pick it up......
