A Pudelpointer and a GSP

Where is all the pointing LABS! Here is a picture story. Walked up on my Chocolate Lab female "kas". She didn't come from a "pointing lab" breeder but rather a non-papered local breeder. She hold point as good or better than any pointing lab i've ever seen, I've watched her point wild roosters for over 5 minutes, but she will not hold a point if the bird moves she's instantly after it. My favorite part is that I can break her point with a quick "get it up" and she flushes away.

* As you can tell, I chose not to steady this dog to the flush. She is very steady in the duck blind to the shot, but I chose to let her chase birds as I've had many pheasants run hundreds of yards on dogs that were slow to the retrieve. I'm in a tough personal debate on whether or not to steady my new Springer Spaniel to the flush.

For us bird dog people, that is called Backing the deer.

Scott they think any time a dog pauses to check some thing out they are pointing! :roll:

I have always looked at it as if they Smell it and stop, it is a Point.

If they See it and stop it is a Back. It is a natural instinct that if they see something standing still they stop.

My dogs used to Back the cows on my lease till they realized they were not part of the game. I never thought it as they were pointing a cow.

Wonderful! Sure gives some pleasure when you've got 3 feet of snow outside.

Pointing deer? So, is there a deer nearby, hiding in some brush? Or is the deer just standing there? I can't imagine a deer sitting tight, not bolting, if a dog and a guy taking pictures are that close to it.

The puppy's tail was the first sign of where the dogs had gone to.

Here's my 16 month old Derby sticking a Woodcock here in New England.

I'm not the greatest with a camera but when I was in ND this year, I took the dog out to empty in some grass off a prairie road and was able to snap this one.

That was one of the Irish Kelli is handling. That is one of the sweetest best looking dog I have ever seen. I'll tell her hi.

This was my vizsla around 10 weeks I think. Haven't been able to get a recent point pic as I am just too excited watching him hunt right now to think about taking a pic..

That'sw great Bill. Don't think I';d have the gut's to do two at a time much less that many. Might have to get out the wing on a string and try it on Stormy!

Nothing special about hunting here in Ontario ( maybe wild turkey), but B.C . has some great terrain.
My brother the outfitter , and his son the forest fire fighter.

Our oldest Vizsla, Jack (GCh Dynata's Bound for the Field MH) during a hunt last Winter.

This is how I will always remember this old dog....standing tall...and waiting

That's the way we like to see them all JKP!! especialy after I ride half a mile to get to them!

I know all u pointer guys are gonna get a good laugh out of this but this is how my hound gets when he sees something in the yard (squirrel,bird) or here's the neighbor dogs comin out lol enjoy he will post up like this and stay that way for a few min before he starts to chase

Alabama quail hunting.
Took my 4 month old Cocker as well. He seemed pretty relaxed. Got him around birds etc., tons of fun!
