Well, the little guy needs a few more opportunities to really let the intensity shine through... but this isn't a bad start for a 10 week old showing off in the backyard:

Crystal Kennels - WOW!!! That is style personified. What's the breeding behind those dogs (I believe it's three separate dogs in the four photos, correct?)

Everyones pictures are great. I like the rigid body with the nose and tail up. My favorite though is when you see that fire in their eyes. You can look at a dogs eyes and know if it is doing it because that is what you want, or if that is what the dog wants.

I have an 11 year old lab mix with no style :D .................and my first gsp pup that's going to turn 1 year old soon. Love to watch Roxi--or any other pointer-- lock up and hold point with intensity in their eyes. Denise

Gent is looking great!! Can't wait to see him running NBHA this fall!! Hopefully he'll be a SC DOY like his momma!!

BTW, Larry, the originator of this thread, has a littermate to Gent, a sister, that is looking fantastic as well!! :D

To me, style can be summed up in one word.....INTENSITY, and I have seen some very stylish dogs on this thread.

Buster during a training day. would not say this is style ( not as much intensity as wild birds do) but was pretty. Most of the time he is mired in brush or thickets, not to many good photo ops.Image

Only real way to catch style is on video imho, points are a sight most times but the way
they come about them means alot.

If ya never seen a Honky Tonk dog video is the only thing that would do them real justice....they
ooooze style moving......

And laugh if you want, but this lab is pretty intense when he hits his birds. Don't send me emails about no such thing as pointing labs, this dog is as natural as it gets, never whoa broke, never shocked around birds, never taught steady to flush. He is natural, last week he kept up with three all age bred shorthairs for 3 hours, now he couldn't have kept the pace all day like those shorthairs but still.

Birddog,

That is about as stylish point as I have seen from a LAb. Sure looks good.

He came by it honestly (from 10 wks), not a PL breeding (just plain FC/AFC) and no formal training for upland birds..........

the first dog is my old black lab choclate when i had him out dove hunting a few years ago. the second dog is bella my short hair. and the third is jay pointing a quail. i no longer have him south wind has him now. and i have got to hunt behind him for the last two weekends. i gotta say south wind has done a heck of a job with jay.
