Rough Week
Well it has been a rough week for me. Quail season closed on Sunday. That in itself is depressing. The only thing keeping my spirits up was the thought of picking up my newest pup in 2 weeks. I called the breeder yesterday only to find out that 11 of the 13 pups in the litter died. This guy has a great reputation and a clean kennel. He sent the pups to his state's vet school to find out what happened. The 2 pups left are both males. I want a female. It took me about 2 years to find a breeding that was one of those "I've got to have a pup out of that litter" breeding. I found it and now the pups are gone.

I know how you feel on that one. I was hoping to get a pup from a 12/31 litter from my breeder but it ended up all male. I would have been picking up my pup this weekend ended.
Instead I am waiting for a breeding of different sire/dam that should happen at the end of this month. SO I am keeping my fingers crossed & hoping for the best.
DOes the breeder have any other planned breedings this year, that you are interested in?

He has another litter coming up this next week but I am not that big on the pedigree. I have been looking for a breeding that really gets my blood going for the last 2 years. I found it and then this happened. The good news is that as long as everything checks out at the vet school and it isn't a problem with the bitch then he will be doing another breeding to her after she skips one cycle. The breeding that he is talking about is one that excites me more than the original because of the sire but that is a long wait when you have yourself ramped up for a new pup. I've waited 2 years to find the right litter I guess I can wait another year to get the breeding that I want.

This breeding had alot of Fiddler & Slate Creek Doc blood with a splash of Elhew. All that I have had for the past several years are EP's but I have owned a couple of GSP's and they were great dogs. For some reason, everytime I start looking for a dog I find an EP litter that I like before I find a GSP litter that I like. Of course, I also know more about EP pedigrees than I do GSP pedigrees.

Pups
Hi Brenda
That is the same bloodlines that I breed here with my pointers. I only have 2 males from that litter, all the females sold fast. I will keep only 1 of the male pups for myself and will sale 1.
Man I have a hard time staying login to this site.

Did your breeder ever figured out what happen to the litter???Quailhunter wrote: He sent the pups to his state's vet school to find out what happened. The 2 pups left are both males. .
