It drives me nuts - but you just dump it and re-fill it sometimes twice a day with Bohdi

I have a French Brit male, He is a pig. Pees in his water, pee on his house, pees through the fence on the other dogs stuff. I have inside and outside combo kennels, Dumps out side but I would love to tie a knot in his Who Ha!

Can you raise it off of the ground so he can't get to it? I have all of mine snapped to the fence a couple of feet off of the ground. The bucket I use are 6 qt so not as heavy as a 5 gallon bucket. Even though they don't pee in them I dump them and give them fresh water every day.

My males did this too. I use a 4qt bucket and hook it to the side of the kennel off of the ground. It's just high enough that they can't pee into it but can still drink. I also placed it between the doghouse and kennel wall so there was just enough room for them to get in there and drink but not enough room for them to lift their leg. Now that I have a female, it's not an issue but having it hooked to the kennel keeps her from tipping it over.

Good idea's i will try to get a small bucket i can strap kennel and put it between his barrel and the wall......knowing him though he will stand on the barrel and pee on it......

this dog has always been a huge PIA when i comes to keeping him up this dog loves to climb i had to build a "home made" kennel to keep in because he was going to hurt him self...it was chain link he could climb out of it...so then put a chain link roof on it....he would limb up use his head and teeth and pull, bite and push his way through....so i built a keenle i weleded the fram out of rebar and use cattele feence ( the sheets tha have the 6"x6" squares.....well it took him a few weeks to get out of that....but he figured it out...he would go to the corner climb up stick one leg through a square in the roof....then put his head through....then the other leg....and push wiht his back legs on the side of the kennel and squirm like a worm and he would pop out.....i had to wrap the whole thing in chain link to keep him in...This dog was given to me and i honestly believe this is why they gave him to me becasue he was such a PIA to keep up...i have even staked him out and he was able to unsnap the snap from his collar by continuiously rolling and rubbing his neck on the groun the clip would catch and he would sometime get off by doing that....my family calls him Houdini!

i water out of a 5 gallon bucket
I use the horsey flat back 5 gal, put it on a cement block and clip the handle to the kennel, the dog needs this as a stretch excersize, Delmar recommends it and I been doing it this way for ever.

Get a pointer 8) , they are great kennel dogs! Shorthairs are spoiled by nature and are always getting into something!

Here's what I do

Post by KYBobwhite » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:09 am

I just set the bucket up on a cement block. If it's a small dog put another block in front so they can step up on it to get a drink.

Yep, they are not that long legged :) use a smaller one when a pup. The stretch up to the bucket is a good thing. I also do this with the feed buckets.
