It's me. I live in West Ashley. Where'd you get your pup? Where/how have you been working him? The guy we got our quail from last year is no longer raising them, unfortunately.

There's a new pointing dog club (with different ideas about what a dog club is than the Weim club snobs), go to www.thecharlestonpointingclub.com. Next event is going to be in June.

Kevin the shorthair pup did well both days. The 2 year old shorthair that I ran in senior, blew up both days. On saturday he had a back and 1 good find, on his 2nd find when I flushed the bird he jumped about 3 feet and stopped, Greg J was gunning and at my request he did not shoot the bird and I picked my dog up. On sunday he ran well and his 1st bird contact was a stop to flush, the bird landed about 20 ft away and was walking around. Before I could get to my dog he had a stop to a knock  Ya know I put the rope on him at that time. We will try again a little later and see how he does. I really like the dog even if he is a shorthair.... Just kidding guys. I like all of them as long as they are birddogs but I am still partial to them crazy big running pointers.

Grant this is a nice forum with alot of good people posting, you are doing a great job with it. I enjoyed meeting you and your wife. It was also good to see Brenda, Rick and Greg Jennings and his family. Greg has his son well on the way to being a good dog handler. I really enjoy seeing the young people getting invovled with the dogs. It is a great sport were I have made many longtime friends.

What kind of bird dog event is that club going to have in June?

Doesn't say yet, just says next event will be in June. The January event was a club hunt test, and I think they did some sort of training seminar afterwards. We were in Idaho during the event though, so obviously we weren't there.

Believe me, Brenda, I'd have loved to be there! The problem? I'm a poor grad student living off a couple part-time jobs and Jeff is a poor undergrad student living off the GI bill and a work study

Plus, I think Walhalla is far closer to you guys than it is to me. It may not be too much longer, though, the Charleston club is trying to get approved to sponsor real AKC events. In the meantime, I will probably just be attending the local events. At least it'll be a good learning experience, since these are my first 'real' dogs
