Get your hands on a stick welder! No one makes the ones that you are talking about to my knowledge. You could take one to a welding shop and tell them, "this is what I want.......what'll you charge to do it?"

The corkscrew ones sure didn't work for long on my GSP and the small straight posts were even worse. Finding a heavy-duty stake-out that will stay put would be very nice....

Stake Outs

Post by gmanksu » Mon Apr 14, 2008 8:10 pm

I bought some of the stainless steel stake outs from the ad on the Coverdog board last year. Very nice stake out with chain and brass snap. I don't know what he is getting out of them now but know they are machined and turned for the point, and all welds are ground smooth. Definitely the nicest ones I have seen advertised either from a supply or just a person selling ones they make.

I just check out the Hay Creek Kennel site and I see they offer two different stake-outs for $36/ea but I'm not sure why. Maybe someone here could explain -

When would you use this.....

These are the end stakes for a chain gang.

The others are for individual dogs. However I would just use them for the chain gang also.

im going to make a few...i was goint o use rebar and then weld a disk or something a few inches down from the top...then slip a slightly bigger piece of pipe over the bar it will not slide over the disk then weld around the top and place a hook for a snap it will basically swivial around the rebar and should work fine.
