That's pretty sad...doesn't do much for responsible breeders, does it?

Did you see what else he is auctioning off!! :o

I'm not near as upset at what he is auctioning as I am at his complete lack of knowledge about dogs. My concern would be some poor soul who also knows nothing will accept what he has written. What a dunce! Where are the truth detectors when you need them?

What confuses me is how he can know that the superb hunting traits have been passed on to his boy without even hunting him, but rather having him as a "domesticated family pet"...after all, what other kind of pet is there...a wild one?! I wonder if a person will get all the health clearances, OFA results, written guarantees etc. when they win the auction...because he certainly doesn't say anything about them in the ad. Nothing about his age, breeding history, size, NOTHING!!! I'm tempted to email him just to rile him up a bit...but I won't.

E-BAY! you can sell anything on E-bay. I got a good laugh out of this.... 3rd Generation AKC Brit, I do believe it was a Cat too!
But you guys and gals missed the best part, His Sire and Dame are AKC registered pheasant dogs (Not many of them left that is old school!)in the northern portion of the thumb of Michigan not to mention dogs and passed on that to ol Mr Brit here, but also has never been hunted!
Great laugh!

I had the same reaction as everyone else....3rd generation Brit, so what the bleep were his ancestors 4 generations back. Also that he hasn't been hunted but has "hunting traits." Oh, and that they specify he is a "domesticated" pet....good thing, all those wild purebed Brittanies running around

People are shameless. And like Patty said, people like him are giving a bad name to dog breeders. Can you imagine if you bought a dog from a breeder who said the sire was obtained via Ebay?!!?!? Wouldn't touch one of those dogs with a 10-foot pole.

Good thing I did not see this, I would have gone off on the idiot. (pardon the frenchy) If we know about this and do nothing, far as I'm concerned, we are as much to blame.... people like this GOTTA be shut down, but who's got the time to police every back road in the country?

This is where thankfully everybody just keeps an eye open and thank god for boards like this...this was emailed to me from a friend of mine from one board that just had soap box emails amongst themselves...I took it and posted on all the sites I am on actively....I emailed the guy and so did many other I also emailed E bay and even the AKC...We don't need more legislation from the govrnement and anti idiots....But we must band together and police things sometimes with in our own community and be tactful ...which I do have to say there were many thing i would have like to call the guy but a bunch of us kept emailing him with questions and concerns liek OFA proven titles and explaining to this person why they shouldn't offer this with an out of confirmation couch potato....asked about proven hertitage and progeny....etc etc etc and also explained how cheap breedings lead to more dogs in the rescue and pounds and what was his policy on taking responsiblity for the unwanted pups that came due to this lack of being a responsible breeder...this went on and on.
All we can do is try and keep people informed that if they choose to breed what the responsible thing to do is and if they don't want to put forth the true effort in to better breeding practice leave it to those that do take it seriously.

Meh, even if the auction is now closed I should still be able to view the description unless it was pulled by eBay themselves. I clicked the link the first day it was posted (no replies yet) and got an eBay error page. In fact, the entire eBay site was as slow as molassas that evening.

Anyway, since then all I've gotten is the same error page. I've even cleared my internet cache and hit the refresh button.

EDIT:

Well, what do you know! All I had to do was complain about it on an unrelated message board and it seems eBay has fixed the problem. I was able to view the description finally. Man.. that was just stupid.
