Post by intothewind » Wed Jun 25, 2008 8:27 pm

just observing some of the funny habbits of my dogs. just curious what kind of funny things everyones dogs do. i have one that carries my wifes house shoe everywhere she goes in the house., she just wants to lay beside it. she also is an eye sniffer. she will sniff each eye for about ten seconds rapidly then give each of my eyes one lick. she also will not eat any food in front of us. i will upload 2 picks one is of her lying on her bed pretending shes not one bit interested in the food i gave her. im eating breakfast and talking to my wife for one half an hour. shes pretending she isnt interested in the food, wont even smell it. next pick, i went to brush my teeth, came back two minutes later and the bowl was licked clean, she layed back down, and is pretending she didnt eat it.

My dog groans!, she hardly ever barks or grawls but when ever you rub her belly or scratch her behind her ears she groans!

She also does this weird thing where when she wants a belly rub she plows into your shins and rolls on her neck then finally flops over into the belly up position.

ITW--I was just thinking recently that this would make a good topic. My gsp did the eye sniffing/licking thing when she was younger.

When she's in bed (and not sleeping), she will put her front paws over my husbands body and the slip-n-slid her hind end over him as she slithers off the bed. Sometimes, when her front feet hit the floor.........she'll stop for a couple seconds with her hind feet still up in the air like a diving board dive. Depending how long we can endure her, she might do this 10-15 times in the morning while she continually drags all her toys into the room and licks our faces.

Also loves to steal things (gloves, ink pens, totebags, shoes, sunglasses) and then parade around the living room for about 6 laps, showing the item off. She usually comes on command and gives it though.......and seldom chews. Has pulled freshly planted plants out of the landscaping too.

Always lays upside down.............showing the world.

She's always got to have 2 toys in her mouth. We noticed this from little on. She would have one in her mouth and then be pawing (like soccer) at another one. Now that she's bigger, she's able to do 2 in the mouth. She also carries around her food dish when it's empty, and tonite she had put a toy inside it before she picked it up and carried it. Denise

I can identify with the carrying things around! My pup does the same thing (especially when I first get home in the evening)...he grabs whatever is closest and parades around with it. He also loves to stretch out on his back. Unlike all of you that mention the eye thing, mine has an ear fetish!!! He loves to chew on ears...whether they be his, mine, or my wife's.

I dont know if it is funny but my new pup is a hellyin when I am gone, but a angel for the most part the minute I walk in the door drives the wife batty, and the new thing is sit on the kids little stool too.One of the older gsps talks to you if she wants out to strech. When the lab was in the house or if she comes in and I lay on my stomach and watch tv like to lay between my legs and rest her head on my butt.Other gsp sit on the tailgate and stares at it till someone pores a little beer out for her to drink when done hunting at the end of the day.

My pup is always lying on her back, always....she loves to roll over on her back and just lay there with her legs flying all over the place. Than she rolls back over and drags herself across the carpet with her front legs until one of us distracts her from her fun.

When my Jack Russell saw us getting ready to go to bed, every night he went and laid at the door leading to the garage. He wanted in as he had to have one last check that there were no mice in the garage before he could go to bed. ( I put this is the past as he was stolen.)

Rex will clamp down on his blanket with this mouth and just hold it tightly in his mouth while laying on the floor. (Yes we have a problem with hard mouth)
he also spreads them wide for the world to see his manhood, has been doing that since he was a puppy.

He also sighs. loudly as if he is disgusted with us for some reason.

Our Vizsla cleans his hind feet by holding it with a front foot and biting and licking at them. It's a common Vizsla thing.

Our GSP likes to pace in a circle (at a high rate of speed). He always goes clockwise. Never anti-clockwise (using the Brit term).

Now, I have three britts, big suprise there, who, and lets face it as I have seen it in every dog that I have ever seen, refuse to pass gas away from those people in the room. They will first stand and then walk to where someone is sitting and, while walking past them, pass gas. I am not sure, but I think it is their way of telling this stupid human that they need to go outside to do their business.

Someonw tell me why all dogs let of the silent but deadly ones?

Panzer will race to the front door barking until my husband gets up to check for 'intruders.' As soon as hubby leaves the bed, Panzer races to the bedroom and takes up the pillow beside me.

I cannot go hunting without my old girl Flair. If I leave her home, she will wait a day and eat a hole in all of my hunting clothes. She doesn't touch anything else in the laundry basket, just what I was wearing the day I went hunting without her.

Chevy is in love with our cat, Adolf. I mean REALLY in love. And the feelings seem to be mutual. If Adolf weren't a neutered male, we'd have puppykittens everywhere

Aw yes.....I forgot the "sigh". Ours does it as well and it especially seems to happen when he is bored and can't get us to entertain him. A very *disgusted* sigh it is.... :D
