A few old dogs

Post by Don » Tue Jul 08, 2008 12:41 am

Found an album tonight I though was long gone. Some photo's and negs of past dogs I'd like to share.

These first two dogs were special. Lefty was the first dog I ever finished out and Tieh was the first I finished out in the yard by overlaying the verbal whoa command with visual commands. neither ever broke on a bird again in their life, wild or pen raised. My wife ran Lefty in all age stakes where they did real well. she was the only woman placing in AA around here then. He ran a really big shooting dog in truth but handled like a short gun dog. He was really something. A son of my Hannah. Tieh was a big gun dog to a shooting dog but I never trialed her. The breeder was upset about it but I was not that competitive, liked riding braces and judging more than running.

Tieh, yes she is pointing a bird. She reeked with style!

Rag's was the classic great derby that never made a broke dog. Head strong to a fault! He was my wife's dog!

Great pics. I am sure they brought back a ton of memories.

How did you get these into digital format?

What program did you use?

Don, gotta know the breeding on Lefty. Since you are from Oregon I'll assume Radbach and Greif. Looks a ton like my oldest FC...

GSPVIZ, I have a Cannon scanner that scans film strips up to 6x17 which is med format panoramic. Just put them in one end and out the other.

Wow--those are some beauties. Thanks for sharing.
I've got some treasured pictures of my old horses that I should really digitize before they yellow or are lost to the four winds (one of the many things that I've left sitting on my to-do list for too long). So thanks--I think you just gave me the push I needed to dig out the box of tattered photographs.

Great pics as always Don. I wish I'd got to see 'em do their stuff.
