Quail recall pen vs. chukars

Im looking to set up a recall pen, I have access to young quail and chuckars. Chuckars have a few advantages for me since I can legally shoot them here in PA plus I hear they are tougher than quail. What are the advantages or disadvantages with chuckars.

Also what size recall pen would I need for chukars?

Chuckars tend to run more vs. fly. I would suggest quail, nothing worse than having a bird running through the legs of a young dog your trying to steady on birds!

I have heard that it is best to keep Chukars off of the ground to avoid blackleg disease. I know someone that has a large Chukar pen and he says they recall as good as quail

I prefer chukar. Much much hardier than quail. They recall very good. Hawks don't bother with them as much as quail. If you plant the chukar in heavy cover, they hold and flush very well.

I generally buy quail too as they are much less expensive than Chuckar. Now, however, I have decided to keep, them as Mudhunter is thinking of doing, instead of buying them when I need them. Here is my question: What are the dimensions of the wire tube that they use to enter the recall pen? I don't mind losing a few. But, to lose them all would definitely hurt in the wallet.
