Ok i know relatively nothing about pointers but they have caught my eye recently. UP here in grouse woods you see alot of elhew dogs outcrossed with other bloodlines. The one that seems to come up the most is fiddler or miller. I know about the miller line, but i know nother about fiddler could someone shed some light on the fiddler line for me.
thanks

Re: ep bloodline question
The Honky Tonk line was basically developed from Fiddler lines. Fiddler's Ace is probably the most notable Fiddler dog.

They were Horseback dogs. There were several good ones, but most notably were Fiddler himself, Fiddler's Ace and then Fiddlin Rocky Boy, he is who produced Honky Tonk Attitude. They were birddogs and not huge runners but talking to a couple old guys this spring who handled and scouted them they said they were some extremely nice dogs.

Re: ep bloodline question
I have a honky tonk elhew cross and he spent the first 1 1/2 years of his life tied to a barrel in a backyard full of pitbull hog dogs ( its a crazy story) with no attention or training. I took him because I felt sorry for him not really expecting much.
He has took to training very well is smart and a nice dog. I would call him a medium range dog he casts around 200 plus yards most of the time.
I like him I've only had him about two months, very birdy and strong pointing instincts.

Re: ep bloodline question
Fiddler's Ace was an NBHA walking trial champion as was his son Fiddlin' Rocky Boy and his grandson Honky Tonk Attitude. Fiddler's Pride was a hall of fame champion all-age dog. The Fiddler dogs tend in my opinion to be tough, stylish dogs with a good nose. I feel that they can be short of prey drive and brains at times and the best ones I've been around were outcrossed to Guard Rail or Elhew dogs. This cross has produced some really nice dogs. They can be a little smaller and flat muscled as well.
