You could get some of those ear protection things that amplify quiet sounds but cancels of sounds over a set volume.

I am not sure, but most of the electronic ear protection out there actually enhances sounds (like a hearing aid) but cancels the wavelengths of shotgun blasts. My guess is you would replace your hearing aids with electronic protection, which would in effect double as aids on certain sound frequencies. Here are a few threads on the subject.
Good luck!

The good hearing aids do the same thing. I am sure you have lost hearing in certain pitches and that is what your aid is prograed to pick up. The sound overall is not supposed to be amplified beyond normal loudness. i have a pair of new ones I am trying so I will have to see just what they do.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Exactly the same with me. I think these tiny behind the ear ones are going to work real well but are expensive. I have been experimenting with them now for about 6 weeks trying to get them programed the best we can and I sure like them so far. You don't know you have them on and they are almost invisable.

One of the problems with hearing protection, I have discovered, is that the high decibel cutoffs, which protect against shotgun blast, also mute the sound of a grouse or pheasant taking off. Makes it pretty hard to recognize, just a sort of "whish" sound.

I have the aids that are Totally In Canal (tic). Look just like the digital walker game ears. I cant get use to them and only wear them during certain times. I cant eat with them in, they losen up and shift around and sound like I'm eating celery with my fingers in my ears. I can't wear them in the car because all the road noise in the cab is amplified. I can wear them in a meeting and really like them when I'm huning. As long as the wind isn't howling I can hear most of what mother nature has to offer, and they mute on a gunshot. I like to wear them to the range or on the rare occasion when I find time to shoot some clays. Mine have 3 different settings for different frequencies and amplitudes. I'm sure there will be a day when I will have to have them in all the time. I'm loseing what hearing I have very quickly.
