If pigeon poop was......

Post by Nebraska » Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:04 pm

If pigeon poop was "presents", I'd be Santa Clause and my house would be sittin' on the North Pole...... :P Man do those birds have turbo poopers!!!

Cleaning their coop is so gross it almost makes me wish I had a Lab.....

In the past in England, pigeon poop was consitured property of the royal family. So, just think about it like you are royality.

This thread reminds me I'm past due to shovel the pigeon poop from under my birds' loft. Feeding a very high whole-grain-to-pellet ratio, keeps their turds relatively non-smelly and firm compared to the stinking plaster pellets produce, so cleaning up after them is little more than a twice-a-year chore of shoveling what's fallen through their grated floor and emptying the nest boxes every few broods.

(And my retrievers, albeit Chessies, rather than Labs, have enjoyed far more pigeon work than my pointing dogs.)
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

Thank you  He is a beautiful stud and he makes some great looking pups too. Here is some pics of his pups when he was bred to roan dams.

Ditto on Ohio's GSP.....he's one of the best looking GSPs I've ever laid eyes on!!

Rick - I'm totally tongue in cheek on the lab deal. I love 'em all and know they all have their own place. I'm sure on a cold January day, your Chessies could probably retrieve my GSP AND a big Candada while happily breakin' ice all the way....

FWIW - an open floor would sure be nice for clean up......thanks for rubbin' it in!!!

I'd taken no offense. Was just pointing out that homers are handy as can be for all sorts of retriever training.

(From the time mine are small pups, for instance, they're taught to sit tight while birds are tossed past them or whole crates of birds are released within a few feet of them, which translates nicely to solid blind manners while ducks and geese are working in close. And you simply can't beat 'em for stop-to-flush/flight training.)
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.
