Looking for close working GSP stud in or around Mo
Looking for close working GSP stud in or around Mo
I am looking for a stud that is close working foot hunting type dog that is not tight hustler bred I am wanting to bring in some new blood to my bloodlines. I am a hunter and the dog doesn't necessarily have to be titled but I would need to see the dog work and have references. I have been looking for awhile and in my opinion some of the big name kennels have gotten so over priced on fees and demands on female testing its not worth it to the average hunter. I know there are some good dogs out there that the owners don't test but prove their dog in the wild bird field I have some. I am still looking at some kennels but I hope this will give me some other options. I live in central Mo travel is not really a issue I don't have any specific lines focus will be more on the dog.
Thanks
Troy
Thanks
Troy

What attributes would the female bring to the breeding?
Lots pups ofgood unsold pups out there and some kennels are currently going under.
What will you do with the pups?

I know there is alot of nice pups out there. Im not a kennel so I'm not worried about going out of bussiness. These dogs are personal hunting dogs and we already have hunting homes for three of them posibiliy four the rest will be up for sale and can use them in whatever venue they choose. The female is a close working dog 30 to 50 yrds natural retrive and back very staunch on point good temperment .The sire I choose will have these traits

Try Todd Vinson by Newburg (573) 762-2115. Been a while since I last saw Todd but was always impressed by his dogs and he trains for others as well as a local preserve so knows dog folks in the area.

Troy,
Not sure what your calling close working, but I live in Central Illinois, if your interested in taking a look at my Jack dog as a stud. I've hunted alot of wild birds over him and if you need references, I am sure I can get you some. And if you want to see him, I'd be more than happy to show him to you, or anyone for that matter. Dna'd Ofa'd good. You can see his ped on the bottom of my posts. Or go to www.saddletrampshorthairs.com.
Rick Rigg of Bullseye kennels has probably seen him and hunted over him more than anyone else....I can pm you the number if you like.
Just a thought,
Chip

I guess I don't understand that comment. If the guy is happy with the range of his dogs then they obviously work for the terrain, cover and situation he hunts... so why run his dogs down?hunt365 wrote:

You might want to look at a pointing lab stud then then. Heck at least Griffons run bigger than that.

Re: Looking for close working GSP stud in or around Mo
It seems pretty clear to me he's looking for a close working gsp stud to breed his gsp female so I didn't see the point in advising him to look at another breed you thought would better suit him
Re: Looking for close working GSP stud in or around Mo
Skip Bond in Seneca, MO......straight shooter and has owned and been around some great ones. His Alabi dog is a very well bred BrownL dog. Alot of Alabi's "get" are in everyones kennels. 417-624-8449 / catch him around lunch or in the evenings.
I'd make this call!

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Thanks Ezzy. Once again I would like to thank everyone for their response to this thread It is nice to know there are others out there like me on this forum that strive to have good dogs to hunt behind. I have received a lot of information on different lines but most of all got to know some real nice people and their dogs one thing in common was they are all proud of their dogs I think that's is great and exactly how i feel about mine.
