Conformation

Post by mountaindogs » Sat Apr 25, 2009 2:15 pm

Just one pet peeve

It's conFORmation, people. Not ConFIRmation. It is how well a particular dog ConFORMS to the breed standard, not confirms it. I know I make a million typos and I type too fast, but I see this so often, I had to post the pet peeve.

Oh thanks MD, all that time anointing my dog and teaching her the Holy Sacrament for nothing?!?! Crap. I was beginning to wonder why those Bishops were looking at me so strange, I figured it was just because she's a black GSP mix.

Sorry to disagree with you mountaindog, but in my kennel it's conFIRmation. Given the way my field mutts look, they need all the help from the Holy Spirit they can get

I guess that I will have to conform to this idea as well and confirm my acceptance to this idea. 8)

We pray to the Holy Spirit every time we show in Conformation and also before we run in a FT or HT! Aline actually has a bitch named Jesus for which she asks confirmation from the Holy Spirit.

ps. it bugs the crap out of me also when I see people asking about the confirmation of their dogs. Also when people talk about their Dominate dogs

This good be a good thread...we should re-title it.

My #1 Gundog pet-peeve is when I'm walking Emma out in our College Forest (lots of people walk their dogs out there) and people commend me for having such a well behaved dog...and then a second later say "I gotta get me one of them electric collars." As if a good behaved dog and an e-collar go hand in hand.
I try to tell them every time that I taught my dog to heel and come using a leash, cord, and/or prong collar.
Every time I just get a look that says "yeah whatever."

My #1 Pet Peeve about Gun Dogs is when people expect their dogs to learn by sitting in their kennel. They have them spend their life in the kennel, then let them out and expect them to put on a show.... you get what you put into the dog. That's something a few people don't understand.

The conformation issue is but one small pet peeve. Certainly not my biggest one, but high upthere since I see it so much. It is always like a glaring red sign that this person does not really "know" conformation and so when they say their dogs have good confirmation, I can dismiss that as a maybe they do maybe they don't but they certainly don't know the details about conformation for that breed enough to even know what they are actually talking about. Like a filter

He a nice looking guy, but I am not going to delve into the particulars for any dog just now. It was not a what is correct and what is not thread. Just if you are going to say your dog has good conformation - you should sound like you know the right word. That's all.

You talk the talk at least 8)

So you now need to confirm the dog conforms, but by who?

Did you get your dog from a good breader?

And is it Panko, Italian, or Cornmeal bread?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I'm more of a sourdough guy myself, but I'm sure dog-bread can be a great accoutrement to perhaps a good liver kibble with a Chateau Vintage 1968 water out of the bowl.

Benny, you would be surprised how many people go straight for the e-collar's now. Why would you waste all that time getting your dog to do things you ask because it wants to, when in 5 minutes it knows that if it doesn't it gets zapped?

Difference between a dog that will remember its training, and one that will bolt any chance it gets IMO.

One of my pet peeves!

Oh and as far as dog bread goes. Sourdough has my vote!
