Post by ward myers » Thu Aug 20, 2009 6:28 am

i read a article a few years ago ,it was on realeased quail surviving & reproducing .
i believe it was in gundog magazine ,i remember the guy was dying the quails heads purple & had a pic of a hen quail
with a purple head sitting on a nest. i believe they were calling him doctor quail & claimed he knew more about what
quail needed then quail did.
anyways i am trying to find this article for a friend

Ward, Check out this link. I think it might help you find the publication , or at least steer you in the right direction. There is a guy they call "Dr. Quail" and I think he is in the Phillipines.

There are a number of quail biologists that have been given handle of Dr. Quail. Here's one of them on your suugested topic online...

We used some tennesee reds on our training area one year,of course some got loose. We found them with the wild bobwhite coveys that lived close by later that year during hunting season. You could pick them out on the covey rise as they are a lot darker color.
