What is the corn situation in SD this year? Does anyone know if they are behind, ahead or right on? Hoping it is not a repeat of last year with all of the late standing corn.

Not sure about SD, but I heard ND is about 3 weeks behind...but I think that was on grain, not sure if it was same on corn!

Corn is going to be wetter than normal in the areas that have had a lot of rain so some people will try to leave it stand later to let it dry. However, the stalks are much weaker and are prone to rot and will break easier so if any of it is showing a tendency to go down it will get harvested as soon as they can get to it. So there may not be much universal timing this year and you will be able to find areas of standing corn which is great for late season birds and areas that are harvested earlier.

The summer here was unusually cool and somewhat wet early in the spring. The word is that it will be a year where the corn is harvested at the last possible moment. Not great news for the early parts of the season.
