I use a product called ShowSheen. You can find it at any horse supply store. It works well.

Any kind of conditioner for hair around the house. put some on the burr & hair, use a comb and it should come right out.

Hope that helps

Just your standard dinner fork has worked great for me in the past.

lets see- the season started 9 days ago- I've been out with my 4 just about every other day- I have a burr field behind the house- have to put boots on the Britt's everytime I go out- and comb the burrs out of them when we get back-

let me know of the easy way to keep them off and how to remove them

I'm all ears

All of the above and then use a Horse mane comb or dematting rake I prefer a horse mane comb though.

Shave your dog before you take them out...feet too

that's a good one-

pickup pulled in yesterday- they saw pheasants in the corner and asked if it would be ok- said sure but be careful- signs WWPO
three guys got out and let out a setter and a pointer- I had binocs and was chuckling

pretty soon they got into the bur field- pretty soon the dogs were walking by their side- could see a conversation going on- one guy walked a bit more but soon they went back to the vehicle

drove back up- short of it was- they saw my 4 Britt's and asked did I like that field- I said yep- they asked if most areas have those burrs- I said yep

Thanks for the tip. Those things are just nasty. In the past I relied on prevention but my new pup won't let me near with clippers. We have a miniature variety here too. After a hunt he jumps right up on the wash station to get brushed out.

Have always gotten them out with just a table fork or a fine tooth comb and nothing added.

my britt pulls them out himself. every time i swear there are some he wont be able to get to, but he does it. only takes him overnight usually. hes the "self cleaning" variety.

It's better to spend a few minutes picking out burrs than spending a half a day looking for your dog!

I agree, Setters work for the hunter, not the other way around! :D
