heat cycle.....

Post by Sprig » Tue May 18, 2010 5:16 pm

i have heard of this happening but have never experienced it until now. i have a GSP in heat right now. I stuck a female lab in the kennel next to her about 8 days ago. the lab was in heat a couple of months ago but today she started to drip blood again and is coming into heat again it looks like. i have heard if you stick a female in heat around another female it can bring them into heat but have never seen it happen until now. has anybody else seen this happen? is it very common? is it a false heat or a real heat cycle that the dog has come into?

If only you could get enough vacation to be out of the house one week per month each fall .... that might help some. :P

I only have three females but so far they haven't cycled together. You should notice swelling of the vulva along with the bleeding. I'm not familiar with false heat and would treat this as an early but normal heat cycle barring any evidence of illness. Many female canines are irregular.

I have seen it with a group of women in the workplace as well. You get a group of women that work together fairly closely and within a year or so, it seems like they all are pretty well synchronized.
