New GSP in the pack ...

Post by lucky guy » Wed May 26, 2010 2:24 pm

I got a message a few weeks ago about a 10 month old GSP rescue dog. Took a look and into the truck he went. He spent a few weeks here getting settled in, now he's at Don's for a few months running with him and his boys. I'm pretty excited about him. He'll end up here whether he pans out as a hunter or not, but that doesn't look like it's gonna be a problem.

Here's Duke!

Your rescue pup looks like he's definitely got promise in the field. Congrats on such a good find.

I live in Sisters in central Oregon on the east slope of the Cascades. The first pic is behind the house in the woods. The others are from east of here in the Crooked River Nat'l Grasslands and the last is at Don's house in Antelope (remember the Rashneeshees?)

I don't know a whole lot about him. A couple turkey hunters ran across him around LaGrande Oregon in northeast Oregon. From what I heard he was in an uncovered kennel with another dominant dog. Mud caked, skin and bones, owner had given up on him for some reason, just hadn't put him down yet. The hunters asked if they could take him and they brought him back to the Portland area. They asked around and found a temporary spot for him. He was there for a week or so when I heard about him. The guy was coming to Sisters the next day on a delivery and he brought him along. That's about it. Chad had him cleaned up and starting to put on some weight when I got him. We just continued along and got him out running every day with us.

That's about it.

Thanks Cajun, I think so too. We keep waiting for the bad on this dog but no sign of it yet. He cowers when he's loaded into the rig. He'll figure out soon enough that means fun is on the way! That's about it.

It kills me to hear of any animal that's been mistreated like that. Good for those hunters, and good for you.
