Female Ep call names....

Post by birddog1968 » Thu Jul 15, 2010 7:29 pm

Im always at a loss when it comes to picking out names for my mutts....end up with something
I just stumble on usually.

What to name a fireball of dog/ miller bred /female/ doesn't end in ie or y (eg. daisy.....)

Ive been thinking Dixie but hoping to hear some non ie/y ending names.
Thanks in advance.

I like "B" names.

I can blast out a name beginning with a "B" . If i try that same voice level with a name starting with a "P" or an "S", the volume is not there and I might just "spray"it a little.

Belle, Bon(nie), Blaze, Brite, Bunny, Bet(ty), Bree, Bama...stuff like that.

Of course one of my current dogs has the call name of "Star" so I am consistent...NOT. :D

"R" names should also come out real strong as should "D" names.

Call her Jet. One syllable, and fitting. :D Jetta when she is home.

You could call a stylish pointer Grace.

Good grief... we just went thru this at our house for days on end... get this... "Fiona"... I'm gonna sound like a moron yellin that!!! My daughter just got back from Ireland recently and she picked Fiona because it's Galic for "white".. IE... Miller... the White dogs... What the heck am I gonna yell... Fi Fi??? a guy could get beat up for a name like that... but the kids have always named the dogs at our house, and it fits, so Fiona it is!..

I had to live with Shelby for over a decade, I was letting my daughter name my last lab. She was brainstorming with my father (mustang guy) and they came up with Shelby.....but it stuck and all was good.

I'm kinda down to Belle and Dixie.

Keep em comin if ya got em. Anything is fair game if ie/y is all ya got. Tryin also to think of "hunting" type names too. I'm giving myself till Sunday till I have to chose.

I got a femail named Daisy, but her call name in the field sometimes starts with a B . haha, Its really hard to think of a name that doesnt end in an ie or Y when your told not to as part of the requirementa. like when my wife says dont worry about the cake on the counter :D . I always liked Bell for a female dog. it comes out well whether your happy or Irate and sounds reasonable being yelled across a field :D . I always liked the name Ginger for a female too, but hard to not get some slurring when ur trying to yell it with authority......... tends to work better with a red or red marked dog too....

As of right now I have seven females.........Star (star on forehead) Specks (heavily ticked) Stub (mom took end of tail off)
Mae, Blaze (blaze face) Kate, and Slick (who has no markings other than very light ticking on ears...Miller).

As you can see some name there self's. I like names that are short and quick.

Was going to use Jo but I have a male that a friend named Joe, who I got back because he ran to big.

Birddog,
She is a real nice dog. This will be her sophomore year. She looks good in the field and is fun to have around the house (Outside of course). She is intelligent and picks up on things pretty quick. I plan on breeding her to Miller Happy Jack this upcoming year. I don't use my dog as a field trial dog, but I love the bloodline.

Well think we have a winner....

Think I'm gonna call her Belle, it rolls off the tongue pretty good. May evolve to Bella
if that carries better, we'll see.

So thanks everyone for your input, especially Ray and TnRed.

It just took 5 minutes to type this because I'm being pummeled by said Belle

birdog1968 -

One of the sweetest dogs I ever had was a pointer named Calico's Lady Belle. She was an outstanding bird dog but her personality out of the field was pure sugar and molasses.

I sincerely hope your Belle gives you as many wonderful memories as mine did.
