pigeon loft question

Post by terrylndrs » Tue Oct 19, 2010 1:04 am

I'm rebuilding my pigeon loft and have a question about the trap door. Does the trap door need to open directly into the loft on can it open into an Aviary. does either one work better or does it make no difference.

thanks

Don't think it will matter as long as you show them how to get back in.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I have had both and either works . I presently have an aviary that the whole side opens to let birds out. They use the aviary as a landing platform to then go into the loft where they are trapped. This setup made it much easier to teach them to trap. When they are in the aviary I could let the bobs down and they would be trapped between the aviary and the loft so they had all day to figure out how to get in the building.

Ditto what Brittguy said. I have hade several lofts and the latest is just like Brittguy describes, works great. To answer you question once the birds figure out how to get back in they will use it.

Anouther advantage to trapping into an aviary is you can leave that open without leaving your whole loft open and exposed to predators at night or if you are going to be gone and can't close before dark but want to keep it open for the late return ones.
