new level of attempted spam?

Post by larue » Sun Nov 21, 2010 4:37 pm

As I have my litter out there for sale,I recently recieved a phone call from a person through an assist
phone operator.
The person would type, then the operator would read it to me,and I would answer, ect.
What made me hang up was when told me he would send money, and his agent would pick up the puppy next week, even after I told him that the pups had not been whelped yet.
Very brazen.

Soon as I figured out I was not talking to the caller, I would have hung up.

I use to manage a dive shop and we would get a lot of def divers(everybody's def underwater anyways) that would have somebody say what they sign. Make sure that's not what it is before you get nasty. Either way someone who doesn't listen well enough to hear the pups arent ready needs to be hung up anyways.

It's not spam, it is a standard fee-forward kind of scam. A couple or three days after you deposited the cashiers check, your bank would have called you and told you the check was worthless and asked for their money back.

Same thing last litter. I know it is for deaf folks as I have a few :) deaf friends. Guy wanted me to ship he was sending a check :) I told him cash on pickup then he hung up.

Y'all need to start having fun with these people. Start asking for astronomical amounts of money. Offer shipping for $2000. Stuff like that. Get creative

Wont make a difference, theyll send the bigger check. I messed with one for over two weeks one time. He finally called my house and it scared my wife, so I told him I new it was a scam.

The deaf thing is to hide that their voices would give away their game pretty quickly. It's just the lastest wrinkle in an old, old game.

We get these a lot in my office. It was a twist on the old email trick they send us on weekly basis. For a while I would play along with the email ones to get the credit cards numbers and report them. This got to be a hassle as they are so pushy and would blow my phones up. That text to voice is just to hide their foreign voices. These guys never stop. Now when I get one via email or phone I tell them the price is 1 million dollars cash in 20's, they usually give up then. Call them a mugu next time. They will hang up, thats Nigerian for someone who falls for a scam.
