Rear Seat Dog Hammock
Rear Seat Dog Hammock
I am looking for a dog hammock that fits the rear seat of a full size pick up. Every one that I found is too small and only fits cars/suvs. Does anyone know where I can look? I've tried every type of search online. Also, it must be water resistant.
Thanks.
Thanks.

How about an "out of the box" suggestion or two??
Folks that do marine canvas boat covers are used to fabricating covers for all sorts of weird shapes and marine canvas is pretty tough and water resistant.
Also folks that do automotive seat covers should be able to fabricate something that will work and automotive seat cover materials are also fairly rugged ad can be backed with something that will be waterproof.
I would suspect that if you bring your truck to such a place, alng with some pictures of what you want from a catalog, a good mechanic should be able to make something that will not only fit your rig properly, but will look good too, especially the auto upholstery option.

Expensive but they have an "XL" version for trucks. I think most truck seats are >60" right?

These are 56" wide:

Re: Rear Seat Dog Hammock
Ray, thanks for the reply. I don't want to go crazy though. I just thought some company out there makes one big enough for a pickup. I can't understand it. I did see the Orvis one and that is really expensive. My truck's rear seats are 61" length. I don't want a shorter one because that will defeat the purpose.
Thanks so far.

Not to be pushy, but you might be surprised. I have a place near me (that I occassionally part-time at) that makes/repairs semi tarps, but mostly makes vinyl padding and curtains for gyms across the country. If you came in with your finished measurements and where you'd want some grommets located at, they'd have it whipped out in less than 30 minutes and charge you less than $100. There's not much to hemming a fabric square and the grommets take seconds to install on the machine. Just saying that it might be well worth checking around your locale...depending what you want.remmy wrote:Ray, thanks for the reply. I don't want to go crazy though.
Just found this too, with a search on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Heavy-Duty-Vinyl-Ta ... 6b1a630956
Says "custom sizes available" with their email at the bottom. Bet they would be willing to make something to your specs in canvas or vinyl.
Re: Rear Seat Dog Hammock
I just found one at www.hunterk9.com for $36. It is 63" long. Has anyone every heard of this website?

Never heard of that website but here's one that's 63" as well for $29.00. I've ordered from PetEdge before and gotten good service.remmy wrote:I just found one at http://www.hunterk9.com for $36. It is 63" long. Has anyone every heard of this website?

I use a Filson dog seat cover in my crew cab Ford. It works great.
