Who's Got More Style???

Post by Ron R » Fri Jan 14, 2011 3:15 pm

My training partner and I was having a discusion today regarding these two dogs as to wich one was more stylish and we could not agree. So, I would appreciate some help from the forum members on there views if you have time.
BTW, one is line bred Honky Tonk Attitude and the other is Crows Little Joe.

Thank You

They are much alike and very nice but I would vote for the first one if I have to choose and I'm betting that is the HTA dog. But as you know they both are very nice in these pics.

I meant to add that this is how these dogs point, some times better but not worse (un-stroked). A typical find for these two girls and I can post flashier pictures but this is their norm.

Seeing them move would tell the story, I don't think of style in just pointing terms....its the whole package.

Nice pictures !

They are both classy/pretty moving dogs and long gaited but one does have more range.

#2 is my choice. Much more intensity and, as you know, that is what makes style in my eyes. Both are great pics!

I want a dog that is intense not only with body but also eyes. Want to see them staring a hole in the spot where the bird is. When they get the head that high it looks like they are just telling you there is a bird up there someplace if you want to go look for it. Probably just me but that intense stare is a great deal of the style in a point.

That's almost always what someone says that's never hunted over a dog that points with a high head or with head crank.....I can assure you there is never a problem finding the bird, don't need a dog staring at the ground to know there is a bird ahead, and to flush it.

The bird is always upwind, higher the head usually the closer it is.

I have one that points that way and it is ok especially from a distance looks really nice but I love the intensity of the stare and doesn't matter much if the front end is low as long as the rear is high. Love that look.

I don't know why any of my dogs do that because I don't barrel train or encourage it (too lazy and not sure how). I breed for High drive, Strong nose, brains, style, in order. Regardless of the picture they are equally intense on point.

Ezzy, I agree with you 100%. That doesn't mean that I don't like the looks of a high head and high tail but to me there is something really neat about a dog that gets those laser eyes going and points so intensely that they tremble.

That all being said to me I like #1 but thats just my personal uneducated opinion.
