Jess has only had the dog for a little while and I know he is more than capable of handling it just an older dog that needs to adjust to his style of handling and hunting.dudleysmith wrote:prairiefirepointers wrote:Yes. I need one!ACooper wrote:Anyone seen this yet? GPS/E collar in one.

That "bleep" Sam dog got away from me yesterday when I was working her with my pointer stud... I just got her home. A gentleman traveling thru noticed her in the ditch along the hightway. 25 MILES FROM WHERE WE DUMPED OUT!
We've got some work to do on this range issue.
U are in way over your head with these dogs....find someone more capable of handling them before the dogs get killed....
That's your opinion. I've lost 1 dog in my entire life afield. This was it. The other dog was my friends dog. Who are you to judge me? I made a mistake by letting her open up a bit too much. I dang sure won't make that mistake again. But, I don't owe you anything, Dang sure not an explanation. Take your assinine comments and choke on em.dudleysmith wrote: U are in way over your head with these dogs....find someone more capable of handling them before the dogs get killed....

I had an Upland 1850 and unloaded it because of the numbers rubbing off the dial. I didn't have any other issue with it. The rep tells me that is fixed now. I like the company. They do a lot of educational promotions and have a conservation grant program.Truthseeker wrote:this could be good, i hope it lives up to its billing. what has been peoples experience with sprtdog ecollars? i have never owned one, but i might have to now.
I think that a bitch like that would be a lot of fun! Slap a Garmin on them, and let them roll...prairiefirepointers wrote:Yes. I need one!ACooper wrote:Anyone seen this yet? GPS/E collar in one.

Dude, I'd love to. However I know ABSOLUTELY ZERO about handling a dog in a FT, how a FT runs, rules or anything else. I have given a few seconds of thought to having someone run her though. Heck Idunno.topher40 wrote:Jess-
You ought to bring that pooch up here in Feb to my trial! You might have yourself a shot.
I would have to agree with the other posters, competition has to be good.
Yeah, I understand what your saying. Good point. However, would you feel more secure if and when Garmin introduces a ecollar? They have no track record with E-Collars whatsoever. I guess its a consumer gamble.cjuve wrote:I think that another GPS unit on the market is going to be great from a consumer standpoint but I would have my doubts about a product produced(if they do produce them) by a company that does not have a long track record with GPS.
If you really want to know. I can find out.Cajun Casey wrote:I also spoke with a CSR at SportDog today, although I failed to get his name. My question, which he said had not been addressed in intercompany literature or their recent training seminar, was whether they will be applying for acceptance of the TEK 1.0 by AKC or The Field for use in trials. He took down the information and promised to have one of their product guys get in touch. I'm very interested in the answer, because it was the devil for Garmin to get accepted.
Thanks, but I sell SportDog. I believe the guy that it wasn't in their specs or literature. I'll post what they e-mail me in the next couple of days.prairiefirepointers wrote:If you really want to know. Because my rep is a jerk.prairiefirepointers wrote:Why dink around with Customer Service when you should have direct contact / line of communication with your sales rep?
I'll stick with TT for the shock collar.prairiefirepointers wrote:Yeah, I understand what your saying. Good point. However, would you feel more secure if and when Garmin introduces a ecollar? The correction unit can be removed, but I have a reservation about the collar being accepted. There is also a weight requirement in AKC (don't know about Field). I would also like to know how much data storage and transfer capacity the SportDog unit has and if it is a stand alone, fully functional GPS. Personally, I'm just going to keep bugging Garmin for a unit with a camera and smart phone on board.cjuve wrote:I'll stick with TT for the shock collar.prairiefirepointers wrote:Yeah, I understand what your saying. What do you think the possibilites of American Field allowing a dog to run with the same collar that is used for correction? I myself would be surprised if they allow a combo unit to be used during a trial. It appears that this unit was designed to target the hunter rather than someone that trials or does both so a trialer would still have to have a separate tracking unit.
She knows what she is talking about.Cajun Casey wrote:The correction unit can be removed, but I have a reservation about the collar being accepted.
