In hunting country. I thought maybe it would be fun to have a list and location for good eats in hunting destinations. I'm still trying to think of a few names of places, but fire away if you have some favorites. :D

My favorite bar/restaurant on a hunting trip is Stoney End Restaurant in Garrison, ND. Ye Olde Malt Shoppe is an excellent food backup, but not an option for barley pops.

I'm sorry but that stuff they sell at Sonny's and call it BBQ is not real southern BBQ. Once you try real pulled pork you wont go back to Sonny's again. Let me know next time you head towards the south and I will try to point you towards some better choices.

I have to agree. I like their food, but I've had much better BBQ.

On that note - Pa Bill's BBQ in Douglas, Ga. Little hole in the wall, outdoor seating only. Fantastic food.

Bill's Bar, Burke, SD. They don't serve food, but it's the only bar in town, the beer is cold, and it tastes great. Especially after shooting a limit of pheasant. Even at 11:30 in the morning. :)

On a slightly different note - if anyone is ever down in West Central Florida, the Linger Lodge is one of the coolest restaurants I've been to in a long time. Good food, good, beer, excellent atmosphere.

Birdogz,
Here in North Central Pa we have a couple fine eateries, both on Rt #6 less than 1/4 mile from my log cabin. One is the Antlers Restaurant, with fantastic ambience great Prime Rib and fine Fish Smorgs on friday night. Great bar with large screen TV's, fantastic mounts from around the world, both game and fish thru out the main restaurat and Bar. And good friendly people working the entire place.
The other is the Log Cabin Restaurant with great food, one of my close friends sons is the head chief and he does some serious cooking, the attached bar is as old as our mountains and well stocked, reservations required.

The Brookville Hotel in Abilene does have some good chicken, family style all you can eat, need to take 14th st(old 40 hwy) east out of Abilene to the town of Detroit, have a greasy burger and beer at The Midway Cafe. Smokey's in Wellsville,KS is also a good place to stop after a morning of duck and goose hunting.

+1 for Kings Inn in South Texas.

Also, the Main Street Brewery in Cortez. Colorado. Run by a German expat named Rudi who also owns a ranch and locally grows his own beef. It's all about beer, and the beef.
