Hunting statistics!
I have found in my 25 years of quail/pheasant hunting that the dogs I hunt behind (everything from pointers, brittneys, labs, chessies, wirehairs, etc) find more birds than I can shoot!!!
Re: Hunting statistics!
I like that and it is so very true.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Re: Hunting statistics!
During nesting season most birds do not put off scent. It's natures way of protecting the species of birds. If a dog found every covey of quail or pheasant in a field, or a fox or coyote or hawk or some other predator there would be no game birds to hunt.

That is untrue, how do you suppose a bird would do that were it true? In the spring (nesting season) there are a lot of competing scents, but I have had many dogs point a bird on the nest, it is how we band birds.kensfishing wrote:During nesting season most birds do not put off scent. I think if the truth be known they get harder to find when the vegetation is green, it is warmer, and many times mch windier. In other words competeing scents and poorer scenting conditions.
