The quail population in Missouri is down quite a bit. I hunted 18 times last season and probably the most coveys I pushed in a day was three. I (Bess) did find birds everytime, except opening day, but the coveys were pretty small. We had record snow here in February and I am very concerned about how that might have affected what birds we have. Some reports since have been good and some bad. A good dry spring will help as we have had three very wet ones!!
As far as a sire, one has been selected
and will be named upon breeding. I get to keep the pick female, two will go to the owner of the sire and the rest will be sold. If your in the market for a pup let me know !!! This will be my first attempt to raise pups and I live in town so I will have to sell them quickly. Some of these dogs will be field trial stuff and the others will go to hunters like me. If they are like Bess, they will certainly find you a ton of birds.
