Wish I had a dog to compete down there! Not a puppy to be had in this place!

I have enough dog power for now. Breaking 4 this summer and taking two of them up North in August. I need a puppy like I need a hole in the head!

I acutally and honestly have no idea what you are refering to. I don't FT. I play games, but not with the hounds... as of yet. I am interested and would like to run a puppy stake but I have NO, I repeat NO knowledge of FTing. I have 3 pups that I have to start from my spring litter. I don't even know what to do to begin or how old they have to be or anything. :|

I met bob Lias last spring and he was a heck of a guy. I am sure any of these guys could get you rolling.

Bob is a hoot and when you get the three of them together it is a great time. All three great guys who would do anything to help anyone out. Bob-o is in his mid 70's and still running dogs from foot, horseback and hunting the sandhills all day long.

Gman & Southwind,

Thanks for the info posted and PM's. :D

I make no bones about not knowing something and don't pretend I do. I always welcome advice or help, so thanks again. I have 2 pups that I would love to run in a puppy stake. I just need to know whats what.

I might just get ahold of em.

Puppy basically up to a year old, looking for potential, pup should go with you and to the front, puppy manners around game acceptable.

Derby=1 to 2 years old basically based on birth date of the dog if the dog was born in summer or fall then they are at a disadvantage to those born in Jan-March or April. Dog should start to demonstrate maturity in ground application and manners around game, when I judge I will allow a better a derby prospect that isn't quite finished on game to place above those that don't show as much potential but are finished, you are after potential here to make a top notch finished dog, not a finished dog already, IMO.

Shooting dog or All Age -Finished dogs over two years of age unless they are off age as mentioned before where you would potentially have to run a 18 month old in a broke dog stake.
