Looking for a springer spaniel for a friend

Post by markj » Thu Aug 04, 2011 3:04 pm

He is looking for a female pup, not for breeding but mostly a companion, he lives in SD on a farm so the dog will be in a good location. Dont seem to be any in the for sale forum.

Nice site but too far for him. We are looking for local to Nebraska, Iowa or SD. I had no issues flying in my last pup from NY but he is leery.

If all he wants is a pet, you can find tons of resue dogs. Google springer spaniel rescue and see what comes up. I'm friends with a rescue group on facebook and they always have ESS's avaiable to adopt. They'll work with you on transportation too. Good luck.

'Killa's got the score down - for predominantly a pet, rescue would be the way to go.

However, re a pup

(while also endorsing Sunrise Kennels), you might try Bud Clouse outside Omaha: http://sites.google.com/site/dublemgundogs/

They have some good looking dogs listed, both in their rescue (non kill) and in local shelters. Field bred, bench, and mixed breed.
Why own a dog? There's a danger you know,

You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.

There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger.

While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger.

Thanks, I will pass this information on. I did recommend the Omaha kennel as I had heard of him in the past when a friend got a springer. Living on a farm in SD the thing will see hunting, they do deer camp for pay there so hunters are there season long. But he dont want a dog only wants to run and hunt, maybe I was not clear on that tho. Now I tried to get him into a GSP but.....
