209 or 22?
209 or 22?
Looking to get opinions on the pros & cons of 209s vs 22s besides price of primers.
Ran across a deal on Craigslist for two blank pistols and thought they were both 22s but turns out one is a 209. Figured I'd keep one and sell the other but haven't decided which one. One is a used but in good shape NEF with 22 & 32 cylinders, the other is a new in the box Days End with a 209 & a 32 cylinder.

Re: 209 or 22?
The 209's are a little louder so I like the 22's for introducing puppies to gunfire. If you keep the NEF I believe you can buy inserts for the 32 that will let it shoot 209's.

If you decide to sell the Days End ,send me a PM or email at bill.tate@earthlink.net. I have a days end and would like another in case I should loose or break something. I once had the cylinder drop out when I was pulling out of the holster. I probably didn't have the pin seated. I did find everything. They no longer make Days End.

Not a significant difference in the loads, IMHO. 22's are easier to find. Both loads are fairly cheap.

Re: 209 or 22?
If you reload or use a 209-based muzzleloader, you're going to have the 209s around anyway and 22s are just extra aggravation.
They are load. The crimps are good for that...but so is a cap pistol at KMart.

Re: 209 or 22?
I have a GunX 209, and my buddy has a .22 of some sort, and the 209 is far louder than the .22. 209s are cheaper than dirt, I buy mine by the 1000, and it's very cheap, I don't think that I paid more than $30 for my last batch. That's 3 cents per shot.
Re: 209 or 22?
Probably going to stick with the NEF. It's had a little more use but other than the load the biggest difference is the grips, the smaller grips are more comfortable for me. I don't reload, have been using a 22 for a while and do like the ability to get more quiet loads if needed. Considered keeping the 209 cylinder for the NEF and selling the Days End with just the 32 but have an offer from a retriever guy that I might not be able to pass up.
