Rusty bred studs??

Post by Ahumphers91a » Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:51 pm

Does anyone out there have any nicely bred Dixielands Rusty males being put up for stud or that have been collected?

Thanks

NC Strike's Flash of Gold was a grandson of Rusty. I believe Dr. Woody has frozen semen collected on him. My avatar dog is a daughter of Flash bred to a clown gyp.

How far back in a ped before one is not considered Rusty bred? I got dogs with Rusty in them but none I would really call Rusty bred.
Alot of Rusty through Rexx in this coming litter. Should be a male or two available when they are born for a potential stud

I got a female is a close linebred rusty, might get ahold of bustin loose kennel and ask Pat what he has now, he had some real close rusty dogs.

Bob Merkel still breeds dogs from that line too.

Brandon I don't consider Sonny Rusty bred but some do.
There probably aren't many if any that I consider Rusty bred but Charlie Rose probably has a dog or 2 closer then any.
Now saying this when it comes to LD he gets credit for that so maybe more Rusty bred then some like.
It's kinda funny Rusty gets blamed for health problems but when it comes to FC's produced it was a pointer substitute.
GO figure!!

At some point it becomes more than a coincidence, maybe the get that are clean are the pointer crosses?

Could be Coop but some of those Field CH were also carriers of LD hmmmmmmmmm more coincidences.
Regardless I like what I have as you do what you have & it's long past.
I'll stick with the American Bred GSPS & more white even though there GR mother was a solid lvr from some solid lvr HOF DC dogs.

Yah, hard to know what to consider "Rusty bred". This dude is the baddest, toughest, AA GSP I've seen in several years, goes back to Rusty 4x over like what, 30 years  - tons of wild bird miles, finds his fair share and more, physical freak, the AA full tilt same litter brother to my Trixie who is more GD/SD in application but not a slouch by any means logging even more wild bird miles, success at hunting and FT's under lots of different eyes, a couple hour Ch's and Reg. DOY awards. He's a nice dog fo' sho' that I kick myself for lettin' get out of my hands as a 7wk pup, little doubt he'd have a few competition accolades of his own...and LD negative. There's more than a few hurdles for 'em to jump for me to consider 'em breeding quality and this dude passes 'em all.

I guess everyone has their opinion about what would constitute a "Rusty" bred dog. Rusty was whelped in 1978. Showing up once in a pedigree doesn't equate to being a Rusty bred dog......IMO.

he sold out years ago, last AI breeding produced only 1 pup. I wont spend on the upwards of 2,000 for a chance of 1 pup IMO. Also this in my Opinion is a Rusty bred dog: https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=8 ... =inline&zw

Like I said I dont know this kennel, but I figured a direct son of Rusty would qualify being rusty bred. I never said you had to pay him 2k for a fee. Just trying to help out

If I am not mistaken yes he did sell out, but to another breeder who is holding the remaining straws.

Yeah & the one pup could just as well been the mother.I didn't know he had sold out but wondered why his site hadn't been updated for quite a while & it's still be advertised on Gundogsonline. :?

Sorry for the bad link, I will try and get it on here. But he told me he sold everything because a medical condition, and yes another kennel does have the remaining straws. I personally just don't want to take the chance on it after hearing about the one pup deal, but could also have been a fluke?

If you are looking for Rusty lines the best you can do is grandson and I would call Chandler and if you feel like a long shot try Steve Lithgow.

There are three grandsons of Rusty within 30 miles of my house here in Michigan. One sired by Blue Earth Rex, one sired by Dandi's Runaway Rusty and one by Shoulder Strap Rusty.
If its not a bird dog, it's just a dog!
