What is going on???

My eldest pointer "Patton" is losing some of his hair around his eye, only about 2 centimeters in circumference. Can not tell distinctively, but it looks like there may be some swelling! Has anyone encountered this problem before? Thanks for all of the help!!

Best to have a vetinarian look at. It could be as simple as a sunburn or something more serious. I wouldnt chance it with the swelling.

mange?

+1, could be demodectic mange..i had a rescue dog with it around the eyes, thats usually the first sign because the mites prefer to be in areas with less hair..it also could be allergies as my dog has really bad allergies and he at one point had hair missing in areas such as the eyes and he dug at them all the time so ive had experience with both of these and both included swelling around the eyes so my recommendation is to go to the vet as they are the ones who can be sure by doing a skin scraping to rule out mange..good luck...ruth

Took the ole boy to the vet today; Glad I did, it was staph!

Well that is better news, demodectic mange in an adult dog is a sign of something more serious.
