Bird season?
Bird season?
What bird season starts first for y'all? Here grouse opener starts Thursday of this week along with the dove hunt our 3 year old daughter and I along with the dogs are excited.
Re: Bird season?
Not until Sept. 15 in ON for grouse. No dove hunts.

Re: Bird season?
Dove on Thursday with a projected high of 103 degrees for the day. I suspect it will be over by 9:00 a.m. Hopefully our rural fire and rescue companies don't get any business.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.
Re: Bird season?
Dove season opens on Sept 1, then early Prairie Chicken season opens on Sept 15. Then we have to wait until the 2nd weekend of Nov for the real season to open Pheasant and Quail.

Re: Bird season?
Dove season starts this week - we'll be kicking it off with one of my Quail Forever chapters at a "Hero" hunting event. It should be a great way to give back to those that help keep us safe every day. And the dogs will love the chance to retrieve some doves!

Re: Bird season?
Dove season this Thursday followed by Teal season on the 17th.

Re: Bird season?
Dove is the 1st, grouse is the 17th and duck is the 24th...not sure how I should handle hunting this season with a 13 week old puppy. I want to get him out on the trail, but the fact of the matter is I've only had him for a week and he isn't gun trained yet and doesn't respond really well to the basic commands when he has a lot of distractions. Any suggestions? Is there a too early for gun training? I would probably be going out for the first time the weekend of the 24th for some grouse hunting. How would you handle this situation?

Went Grouse hunting on Tuesday. In the couple hours while the temps were still cool enough we found plenty of Dusky (Blue) grouse. It was good to be out....

Dove hunting tomorrow and then I gotta wait til November 15th to head to Kansas....no I'm not extremely, bitterly jealous of all you people in the Midwest who get to hunt upland starting this month....not at all....
Re: Bird season?
This is our season. Can wait till small game opens on the 17th. Better watch out bunnies, squirrels and hopefully grouse.DogNewbie wrote:Dove is the 1st, grouse is the 17th and duck is the 24th
