Much would depend on the individual dog. My sons brittany gave no problems in that type of confinement but he then got a cocker which went through the side in no time flat !

Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
I have heard of some dogs chewing them to escape. If the dog is crate trained, it should be fine.

My dads pup uses her's as a hamster ball!!
Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
I use them and like them very much. But they are recommended for crate-trained dogs only. Ours came with a tag with the warning
Our first soft crate was a cheapo from WalMart. The dog learned how to roll that thing. We'd crate him up in one room, and come home to find him still crated in another

Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
funny you say that, i had actually pictured that as a possibility..petsmart has them and said they will refund me if the pup damages it, thats one good thing about petsmart they always stand by their products..the only thing is who will replace the pup if she rolls down the stairs in it i better think about this ..ruthrkappes wrote:My dads pup uses her's as a hamster ball!!

i think maybe i will keep her in a plastic crate until she is use to it then use this one..thats hilarious to find him in another room but still in the crate ...ruthshags wrote:I use them and like them very much. Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
Good idea. I have a soft crate but only use it at shows, obedience clinics, etc. I wouldn't put a puppy in one or a dog that isn't fully crate trained. Even then, some dogs still paw at the doors and rip them.I think maybe i will keep her in a plastic crate
Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
They work great for a dog that accepts them. One of ours is crate-trained and does great in wire or plastic crates, but she's figured out how to escape the soft crates. Leave her alone for a minute and she hooks one nail into the zipper, opens it up and is out in seconds. Tying the zipper shut doesn't work either, as then she just tears the door open.
She's never tries to escape from a wire or plastic one, but the soft ones - what can I say, she's figured them out.

Tried it. Epic Fail. Dog went through it in no time flat.

I watched a Min Pin go through one in a few minutes once... She was crate trained, just didn't like that one evidently.Greg Jennings wrote:Tried it. Epic Fail. Dog went through it in no time flat.
I have English Pointers because they don't ever grow up either...
Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
thanks everyone, weve decided its not a good idea to get one based on your experiences with them, thanks again...ruth

Re: ANYBODY EVER USE ONE OF THESE??
We left a friend's Lab in one, back at the truck, while we hunted chukars. A half hour later, here she is, right next to us a mile from the truck. When we got back, there was a slice in the "crate," evidently from one strategic claw stroke. Won't hold a motivated dog!

She sure wanted those chukars good thing she came to you instead of taking off..we bought a wire crate, i think as stated that soft crate may be ok for at shows or when she is being watched but definitely not left alone ....ruthScott Linden wrote:We left a friend's Lab in one, back at the truck, while we hunted chukars.
