GSP color genes
GSP color genes
Can anyone refer me to a post or website that explains how the color is determined based on the parents? I am looking into a litter from a Liver/white spotted Sire and a jet black momma. I am curious as to what color we can expect the pups to be, as well as just generally curious on the topic. Thanks

At a primary level, solid and black are both dominant, so you could get pups of either color and pattern. Byrne has a fairly complete color chart in her book. It may be floating around in .pdf somewhere in cyberspace or perhaps someone who has both the book and a scanner could put it up for you. My scanner volunteered at the fire department and I've not heard from it in months.
Nice picture, by the way. I'm sure she will be glad to have you home.

Word of caution, if the breeder can not answer this question, look for another breeder

Here you go. Scroll down to the sample chapters listing and pull up the one on Outcomes of Matings, in Regards to Colour and Pattern.
