Photo of the Day
Re: Photo of the Day
More road work. Believe it or not, we have had this mare for exactly 5 days and she has never worked with dogs before. What a great temperament.
On another note, only 5 more weeks until grouse opener!

Ya just gotta love those flying ears! And Carolina Gun dog... that in one intense looking dog in the second picture! Love it!

Just super Photo's!!!!! Third one is exceptional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wems2371 wrote:Good stuff! Here are a few pics from last weekend. I helped with our chapter's two day NAVHDA test, and when it was all done, ran the dogs on the bird field Sunday evening. These were some good flying chukar, so I didn't have too many concerns going into it. Cut 'em loose and birds were flying everywhere. I thought holy cow, maybe this wasn't a good idea, and they're coming unglued. A couple minutes later, the points started, and it hit home why I need to get a johnny house built. One of the interesting moments, was Roxi going on point, and then Brandi cutting over and going on point too. Seeing it all from the rear, I thought it was an excellent honor, but was surpised when a bird flew up in front of Brandi 20 seconds later. Brandi had cut across a mowed path and stopped on a dime for a chukar just a few feet in front of her on the open path. A few minutes later they had another two dog separate find.

Thanks Don.
A GDF member came to buy some pigeons from me a week ago. I invited him to bring his pup and we could put down some of my homers for her. She's just 3.5 months old to my understanding. We put a few birds in the grass and checkcorded her downwind. She caught on quick and I know he's going to have a lot of fun with her.

Re: Photo of the Day
Here is "C" in the blind with me.
This is her first Duck hunt. Unfortunately we only had one group come near and I missed. So no bag photo.
I was happy with her manner and her attention. Now hopefully if I manage to scratch down a few she will get the retrieving right.
The second was "C"'s bag for the Grouse hunt the week before.

Re: Photo of the Day
Here's my 1 year old Irish Setter on some bird work today. After three days in the last couple weeks of flushing birds and chasing them, and the fact that I had five extra pigeons left over from this year, I decided to put her back on the lead and show her how to get her mouth on some birds. She rewarded me by busting out this pose for me so I snapped a picture.
Re: Photo of the Day
In lieu of pheasant hunting, since deer shotgun opened this weekend, we did a few pigeons today.

Took the time to night to look through this whole thread. What a treasure. We are blessed to have a dog love us.

Re: Photo of the Day
I took Guss out after work today for an hour it was not as dark as the pics make it look just very overcast and i did not have my good flash. We saw about 30 pheasants but these are the only ones that would let me get a good pic. They were running real bad on him but it is fun watching a young dog figure this stuff out
