Hello,

I went out and got Briar some booties for some sores on his feet and am wondering if it's alright to use neosporin as well? Anything I should watch out for?

Neosporin is fine, but where did the sores come from?

They came from him pulling at the leash. That issue has been solved with starting to heel train, but the sores aren't healing up because of some behavior in the kennel. Not entirely sure what he's doing (licking, clawing the bars, digging the bottom, all of the above) but whatever it is they keep opening up. Thanks for the reply,

Try Boudreaux's Butt Paste on the feet.

Well, if you don't see marked improvement within a couple days of the boots and neosporin, a trip to the vet is probably warranted. Sometimes a cut can turn into a hot spot and requires an antibiotic to help clear up.

He's on an antibiotic right now. The vet had told me to put gold bond on his foot to help dry it out, but now it's just a dry indent of a sore rather than a scab that will heel over. Hoping the neosporin will soften the tissue up a bit as well so it can scab over.

Only thing I do not care for with neosporin it you are trying to use the ointment it does more to attract dirt which can get messy

On the pads I just like to keep area clean and use a spray type antiseptic which adsorbs in

It's diaper rash ointment. Has castor oil and zinc to protect the skin as it heals. Find it in the baby stuff aisle.

I have had a few experiences with torn up feet (JOHNNY) and I would recommend EMT ointment. It is very thick and sticky and does not come off once it dries. I use it for all cuts http://emtgel.com/whatitis/index.php

Where do you pick it up...just any old pet store?

Feed stores,TSC,petstores,all carry it or online.
Also comes in a spray!

You could also try Granulex spray or Blue Lotion. Both of those things do wonders to heal up stuff.

Approching this problem from a different direction. What kind of floor do you have in the kennel?
