New Litter - So Proud

Post by QuailHollow » Fri Sep 30, 2011 5:32 am

Just wanted to share pictures of our new litter. Puppies were born on 9/28/2011:

Live puppy sex & color breakdown as of yesterday morning was is 2 males, 8 females, and 1 dead on arrival :
1 – Orange or Lemon White Male
1 – Black White Male
4 – Black White Females
3 – Orange or Lemon White Females
1 – Liver White Female

Unfortunately, even though i tried to save the little pup, we lost the Liver female last night. Probably for the best, she was quite small and did not thrive.. that should've put our live puppy numbers to 9, but this morning we we discovered a suprise. Apparently I was so preoccupied with the failing liver puppy, that i over looked a second orange and white male. That brings back up to 10 total puppies. This is Bianca's 3rd litter. Her last litter was 9. PHEW

Final Count: Total of 12 Puppies
1 DOA (underdeveloped) O/W female.
1 Died the evening of the second day.
2 – Orange or Lemon White Male
1 – Black White Male
4 – Black White Females
3 – Orange or Lemon White Females

Thanks everyone. I kept one of her son's from a previous litter. He is with Chris Goegan now training for field trials. Actually, it is the puppy in my avatar. His aunt, 'Ember's Roaring Blaze' just finished her FC this weekend at the Anthracite Brittany Grounds.

I can't think of one bad thing about a puppy. They make the world a better place!

The black and white pup in my hands is a female. Actually, she was the runt and now is one of the largest pups. Let me get you a pedigree.

You know, I'm actually kind of embarrassed to post the pedigree. I have to admit that these dogs aren't American Field bred Pointers. They're bench bred, and while they will hunt, they are fairly close range dogs. More for the casual folk and people who want a family dog. They aren't going to be winning any field trials.. and they would be worthless to anyone running FDSB - they will not have 12'o clock tails.

Anyway, how about a dog pile?

Don't be ashamed of your dogs or your dogs pedigree. You pay to feed them so it is only your opinion that counts.

Breeding for looks and talent can be done, that is what breeders should strive for. I know a Spin breeder that has had 9 litters and received 8 NAVHDA Breeders Awards. At least 3 dogs have gone to Westminster, two VC's as well.

It can be done.

You know, tail set is a matter of prefrence. I'm pretty sure that the things you fear are flaws would be considered atributes to some. Good looking litter!

Ditto that.
Personally, as soon as you posted this, I was drawn to the classic look. LOVE it. I personally like the long straight out head and tail making the classic "arrow" shape. Says POINT to me 8)

Ditto from me too!! There's nothing quite like planning a breeding and then the wait to see if our plans have made babies that turn out just right :)

Man, I sure love the looks of the "Show" Pointers. Love the faces, and the kind of houndly appearance. Beautiful dog's and pup's!! Good luck, and hopefully they all get to hunting homes. :D

I am sorry to bring up an old thread, but if you kept a puppy or have growing up pics of these guys I'd love to see how they are growing. Really like the looks.

Here is a picture of the black and white pup backing our older dog out in the field. She got anxious when I started rooting around for the bird, and repositioned. They are 7 months old now.
