I'm no expert at picking out a dog but reading this , "He has won 2 dog competitions at Pheasant Bonanza." I would want to know more about that. I'd want to see him work before making a decision too.Still thinking about MD.

I'm looking for a pup who will be a 'versatile' (hunt both waterfowl and upland game) dog and I pulled up a NAVHDA sire report on him and he only has 2 dogs tested and they were a prize I and II.

I have no idea what the MD stands for, but he's a Master Hunter and depending on what you're looking for, has a heck of a nice Pedigree.

MD is not an AKC title, so I assume that it stands for "Meat Dog"...

Or "MD" is part of his registered name and not a title

He must be close to me, this place is in burt county nebraska, I detest the place but thats a personal thing.

They went and leased up most of well all of the best hunting land around so now us poor folk cant get on any of the land we used to hunt unless we pay a huge fee.

This place has competitions with pen raised birds and some wild stuff. Not an akc thing not nstra or any other thing like that. A guy posts here refs some of the events.

Shoulda bought the "bleep" place when it went up for sale, was a dog training kennel with some hunting at that time.
Top Gun kennel is a good one, some fine dogs come out of there.

I would not breed to any dog i have not seen or hunted behind. Anything in that dogs ped is so far back that is titled . your getting 90% of your genes from the first three generations.

Looks like a nice, well-balanced kennel. The kennel also has a FB page you should check out.

He said he was the sire of a litter he was looking at not that he was looking for a sire. :D

I am by no means a GSP expert, but it seems to me that if someone were to be looking for a solid hunting dog, that litter certainly has very impressive credentials.

In the first 14 dogs, there are 2 DC's, 7 Master Hunters and a Senior Hunter titled dogs on the top and bottom. Say what you will, but a Master Hunter dog has to have shown a high level of performance under judgement on several occasions and has to have been able to take serious training to get there. A Senior Hunter titled dog is also a very capable animal and most folks would be quite happy to hunt over a dog with that level of ability.

That breeding also show that the kennel is pretty serious about "proving" their breeding stock. That concentration of test titles did not just happen.

As to the two competitions cited, I do not know what is involved so I cannot comment.

I personally look for something different in my dogs because of how I compete, and shortthairs ain't my breed of choice, but you cannot dispute the quality of the pedigree on paper.
