analyzing puppy and pedigree

Post by kjwalker2 » Wed Nov 16, 2011 1:49 pm

Hi all,
i am new to the site and am interested in finding out how tell if a pedigree is "good" or "not so good". i am also intrested in the criteria for picking a good pup. i am intrested in these two aspects because i am in the process of buying a gsp pup. so as an example i was just going to post some pics of the pup i picked and her pedigree just too see what everyone thinks. i would appreciate any comments or concerns(that i should have).

thank you very much,
kevin

these pics are at 4 weeks. i will be getting the pup at 7 weeks old( out of 4 femals she was second too largest)

I don't know much about GSP bloodlines.

Picking a pup, I get the one with markings I like...
I have English Pointers because they don't ever grow up either...

Too small to read, here, also. Can you list the dogs?
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

It would be helpful if you could get rid of the alabama sign or at least cut it down in size where it doesn't take up so much room.

I don't know any of those dog's which means absolutely nothing. I like to hunt dogs, not study pedigree's. The Wildrose stuff is Charley Rose. Used to be a member here, maybe still is. There's a guy I used to trial with that has a Wildrose dog. He told me it was the best dog he'd ever owned, he's owned a few.

Seeing a bit of both them in there and a pedigree not loaded with show champions would be good enought for me. Of course I really like dogs with a whole bunch of white, shows up better in all cover other than snow.
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

I can't bring the ped up but would like to see it.Charlie has a solid lvr female he bought from me that has produced some nice pups for him but I think her last litter was last summer so would be too old to be your pup.

it might be easier to read if you make a perfect pedigree you can do that at http://www.perfectpedigree.com
and if thats the litter you want a pup out of just pick the puppy you like the best. you cant tell witch one is going to be the best when there that young. just pic the male or female that you like the most.

The work is in finding a litter with promise. After that it is a crap shoot - choice is made on sex and markings. I don't see anything special in that pedigree but that doesn't mean they won't be fine pups. After the Grandfather section the other info means little.
