Congradulations Chukar. The photo's on facebook make me remember! There is something about riding after the dogs that is really nice.

Wow...thank you all for the kindness, it has been quite a day. When the hat band induced coma subsided I was able to digest some of this...and I just realized, I WAS OFF FIELD TRIALING IN CHUKAR SEASON!...

I cannot tell you how humbled I am about meeting some of the nicest folks, both in the field trial community and just some plain old great southern hospitality in general. I had never spent much time there...I go for work once in awhile but it's meetings et al and you don't get to really see the south...great place and nice people. The field trial people some who were pretty intimidating by name to me prior to me getting there were extremely nice and really helpful in showing me around the course and offering handling advice. I even met a fellow gun dog member there, I don,t know his screen name...where are you Matt? Covey rise 64 threatened an appearance but never showed...I do expect to meet him next year, I have to host a party at the trial next year and I suspect he will want some of my free booze.

Sonny pretty much handled things on his own...he handled the tree lines the twists and turns like a dream, a nice find on a single to start and two big covey finds...the last with 5 minutes to go...and I got to see the birds all circled up for the night prior to the flush. He ran forward well and looked so good on point he had me nervous, my best description would be a coiled tight spring...

I had to leave on Wednesday as we have a big thanksgiving at my house 50 folks and I got back to California at 130 Thursday morning. It was a nerve racking couple of days waiting and I wish I could have been there...but a feller has to keep his priorities straight. Anyhow...thanks again for the well wishes, Sonny stayed for the open next week and we will be back next year...

That may be more than you all were bargaining for but I am still floating a bit...
Thanks again...joe

Congratulations!

A major accomplishment for a dog of any age and a handler of any degree of experience, but this ranks very high on the list of the great feats in Brittany field trials.

I am impressed and very happy for all,

Congrats Chukar12. I currently have a 7 month old half brother to your dog "Sunny" with both having FC NGDC Sandee's Blazing Shane as their sire. I too just placed my futurity nominated male," Mackatron" , at 6 months 2 weeks in a puppy stake. Needless to say I handled my dog off an electric golf cart too in an AKC Brittany walking trial without incident. As everyone here should already know, Brittany FC Sandee's Blazing Shane won the 95 dog entry AKC ALL Breed National Gun Dog Championship at Reno, Nevada several years ago handled by California pro Paul Dorion. West Coast offense at its best.

Paul Doiron does a great job with dogs.
Sonny has a lot of great dogs in his pedigree http://database.kninebirddog.com/module ... pedid=6497
what even adds to Sonnys win and pedigree is his Grandfather also got elected to the American Brittany Hall of Fame :D

I will have to link the pictures I can find from others in the morning...I didn't have a camera at the trial with me...I forgot it. I had to leave before it was over....so I didn't get in any podium pictures. I will be more prepared next year. We are responsible for hosting a party by tradition so the gowers are going to have a thanksgiving in Arkansas next year...

Thanks again everybody for the comments, it keeps taking me back...I appreciate it

Congrats, Joe. It was so nice to meet you and put a face to your screen name. What a way to make a start at the Nationals. I did not get to see your dog, but from what I hear he did a awesome job. Hope to see you again in Booneville. Take care.

...I want my Wyndancer congrats...
this is a web link to the only real "action shot" it was at the flush just as I fired on my second shot. Sonny is marking and it is clear to see that he is on the edge...

Here is the posting sheet...I hope they saved it for me.

This is the actual presentation, left to right is Tom Robin I believe his official capacity is stake manager, Steve Ralph who served as secretary, Tom White my good friend, owner and handler of the second place dog, my scout and first VP of the ABC, and last but not least Paul Doiron who is a professional trainer and handler extrodinaire...he handles Sonny at trials that I cannot get to.

I'm waiting to hear from Steve.

But I have a question...I see there was no gallery wagon, just a bunch of hangers-on, on a pick-up.......did that severely impact the drinkin' the Brit club is known for? You wouldn't know...you weren't there.

I received some intel, from my black ops people, that tells me that you were indeed at Booneville and did indeed handle your dog to the win. Never doubted you Joe....trust but verify. Could be I'm overly envious, seeing I had a couple pretty bullets at our NFT that I let down.

A hearty congrats!
